Getting a Legal Copyright

COPYRIGHT LAWS CONTINUE TO CHANGE! If you are self-publishing, this is the only way to protect yourself. Use the short form TX if you are the only author and copyright owner of your work, and the work was not made for hire, and the work is completely new. If you are seeking publication through a publisher or an agent DO NOT COPYRIGHT YOUR OWN MATERIAL! In the publishing industry, it is standard that the publisher copyright your work in your name. Copywriting your own work only proves your non-professionalism. Mailing yourself a copy will no longer hold up in a court of law.
